Friday's Finals

Buffalo, NY – The La Salle men’s and women’s swimming & diving team completed the third day of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Friday. Through 27 events, the women are in fifth with 269.5 points and the men are in sixth with 214 points.

Junior Shannon Duval picked up second place honors in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.68. Duval, alongside sophomore Jessica Carbin, sophomore Holly Biro and senior Carleen Caldwell, helped La Salle to a third place finish in the 400-yard medley relay (3:49.14). Carbin also finished third in the 100-yard backstroke's A-Championship with a time of 56.15.

 

Senior David Ellerson placed sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke’s A-Championship (57.52) and junior Owen Black finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.17).

 

Also rounding out in the A-Championship was freshman Emily Heath who placed fifth in the 400-yard IM (4:29.19) followed up by junior Brittany Sedberry in seventh (4:29.70).

In the 3-meter diving event, senior Tanya Lindenmuth finished sixth with a total score of 213.15 and freshman Laurie McLaughlin’s score of 206.05 awarded her seventh place.

Friday's Preliminaries

On Friday, two Explorers picked up third place honors in their respective events. Black clocked in at 1:40.40 in the 200-yard freestyle and Duval finished with a time of 1:03.39 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Junior Brandon Hargraves followed up Black in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 15th place (1:43.71).

Ellerson tied for fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.09) and Sedberry finished fourth in the 400-yard IM (4:28.88) followed up by Heath in fifth (4:29.71).

In the 24th event, sophomore Dustin Gibb rounded out in 10th place in the 100-yard backstroke (52.00).

The Explorers will compete in the final day of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday.
