Hobson Sets New School 400 Meter Record at NYU Fastracks

Feb. 27, 2009

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Meaghan Hobson broke her own school record in the 400 meter dash to lead the Explorers at the NYU Fastracks Invitational at the Armory on Friday.

Hobson's ECAC-qualifying time of 56.66 bested her old mark by .23 second and marked the second time this season that she broke a school record she had previously set. She placed fifth in the 48-runner event.

Hobson pulled double-duty today as she also ran the 800 meters. Her time of 2:15.86 placed her 10th out of 44. Also in the 800 meter race was Courtney McKnight, who placed 22nd with a time of 2:22.90.

Jalessa Graham set a new personal mark in the 200 meter event with a 25.72. She placed sixth in the 18-runner event that saw three sub-25 second times. She also competed in the 60 meter dash where she finished 13th out of 32 in the preliminaries with a 7.99 mark.

Colleen Boland also shaved seven seconds off of her 3,000 meter time to finish in 10:15.94 for seventh place out of 30.

On the men's side, freshman distance runner David Hausherr ran a 15:08.69 for ninth place out of 31 in the 5,000 meter run. The strong field saw five Junior National qualifying times, with Hausherr narrowly missing the standard by approximately three seconds while running unattached.

The Explorers are back in action next weekend at the IC4A/ECAC Championships.
