PHILADELPHIA - Sean Mallon was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for the week ending February 8, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Mallon posted an IC4A-qualifying time of 4:10.60 in the mile run at the Geigengack Invitational at Yale University on Saturday. He knocked more than two seconds off of his previous best in attaining fifth place in Saturday's race.

Mallon was also part of the distance medley relay team that hit an IC4A mark on Friday night in the first day of competition at Yale. He was the last leg of the DMR team that ran a 10:03.54 for second place.

The La Salle track and field team is back in action on Friday and Saturday for the two-day Valentine Invitational at Boston University. The women compete on Friday, with the men competing on Saturday. This is the final tune-up before the Atlantic 10 Championships, to be held February 20-21 at the University of Rhode Island.
