JERSEY CITY, NJ - La Salle Baseball dropped a 7-5 decision to Saint Peter's on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action at Jaroschak Field despite a trio of Explorers each having three hits and Marc Schoch driving in three.
Schoch drove in his first run - Jeff Flax - in the first inning, then gave La Salle a 4-2 lead with an two-RBI double in the third.
However, Saint Peter's (4-16) responded with five unanswered runs, including a three spot in the seventh inning to take a 7-4 lead.
Flax, who went 3-for-4 on the day, hit a one-out triple in the ninth and scored on John Malloy's third hit of the day - a double to right - to pull the Explorers to within 7-5, but that would be as close as they would get.
Tony Negrin, who got his first collegiate start, also had three hits including a pair of doubles, while Schoch had a pair of hits in the loss.
La Salle (8-10) will return home to host Delaware State on Wednesday afternoon with first pitch at 3 PM.
