Philadelphia, PA- Community service has always played a key role in La Salle's Christian Brother legacy. Throughout the week of March 21st to March 28, La Salle will be celebrating it prestigious history.
"The annual Charter Week Celebration is newly named, the La Salle Heritage Week celebrating the signing of our Charter 146 years ago. La Salle Heritage Week reflects our new focus that celebrates not only the University's founding, but also calls us to remember and reflect on La Salle's heritage and values."*
La Salle Student-Athletes teamed up with a campus group called "Neighbor-to-Neighbor" to help restore Harpers Hollow park and its surrounding streets. Neighbor-to Neighbor is a La Salle student organization committed to working with the elderly and disabled in the community surrounding LaSalle. Our athletes took the opportunity to collect garbage, plant new flowers and get to know a number of the families who live close by.
A local resident, Mr. Leonard Malcolm, who is also a Block Captain of a nearby street said, "We have had a community relationship through the years with La Salle and they have always supported us and our neighborhood. The student-athletes and student groups from University Ministry and Service have been extraordinary."
