PHILADELPHIA - Steven Rendall hit an IC4A qualifying mark in the 110 meter high hurdles on Friday and the men's 4x1500 meter relay team placed third overall on the first day of outdoor competition for La Salle track and field. The team competed at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State.
Rendall's time of 14.47 was well within the IC4A standard of 14.85, and he qualified for tomorrow's final as a result of his eighth place finish out of 43 hurdlers.
The 4x1500 meter relay team of Trevon Rainford, Korey Edwards, David Alfano and Sean Mallon combined for a time of 15:32.52 to place third overall out of 15 relay teams. The men's B team was also in the race and finished ninth with a time of 16:05.01.
The sprint medley relay team also posted a strong time today as they finished second in their heat and sixth overall out of 20 with a time of 3:28.19.
Rashad Little, Andrew Maxwell and Jared Davis turned in strong marks in the 400 meter dash. Little crossed the finish line in 49.40 for 26th place out of 98 runners, Maxwell clocked 49.43 for 28th and Davis ran a 49.84 for 38th.
On the women's side, the 4x1500 meter relay team of Caitlin Storbeck, Samantha Gallagher, Stephanie Bearish and Colleen Boland finished second in their heat and eighth overall out of 17 teams. They combined for a 19:13.95 time.
The 1,600 sprint medley team also finished second in its heat and ninth overall out of 24 with a time of 4:09.25.
The Explorers return to the track on Saturday for the second and final day of the Raleigh Relays.
