Explorers Wrap Up Raleigh Relays With Two More Qualifiers

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle track and field team wrapped up competition at the Raleigh Relays at NC State on Saturday and turned in several strong performances.

The women's 4x800 meter relay team qualified for the ECAC Championship with a 9:16.24, the exact standard for the event. They tied for 10th place out of 22 teams in the effort.

Also with a qualifying time was Steven Rendall, who hit the IC4A standard for the second consecutive day in the 110 meter hurdles. He finished eighth out of 14 in the final with a time of 14.60 seconds.

Korey Edwards clocked a 1:52.10 for eighth place out of 19 in the 800 meter run invitational. Four Explorer men also competed in the 1,500 meter run, led by Trevon Rainford's sixth place showing with a 3:51.61.

On the women's side, Meaghan Hobson ran in the 800 meter run invitational and finished in 2:12.72 for 10th place out of 17.

Five Explorer women ran the 1,500 meters, led by Caitlin Storbeck's 15th place out of 27 in Section I. Storbeck crossed the finish line in 4:38.85. Stephanie Bearish and Samantha Gallagher were also in Section I and finished in 4:48.94 and 4:55.02, respectively. Colleen Boland and sister Kathleen Boland ran in the Section II race. Colleen led with a 25th place showing out of 79 by clocking a 4:54.32 mark.

The Explorers return to the track on Friday, April 3, for the two-day Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University. Several team members will also compete at the Penn Invitational on Saturday, April 4.
