Women's Field Hockey Give Clinic at Logan

March 8, 2009

PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle Student-Athletes have been visiting Logan Elementary School to host team sport clinics throughout the semester. La Salle’s field hockey team took their opportunity to teach the Logan students the important skills of their sport. The gym class was packed with drills and games that taught the kids different fundamental skills and techniques used during field hockey games and practices.

Last year, field hockey was introduced to the PIAA (Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association) as one of the new sports. Mark Gilinger, the Logan gym instructor, thought it would be a great idea to expose his student students to the sport. Gilinger said, "Only a few schools in the city are teaching field hockey. It caught on really fast with the classes that I teach. The enthusiasm the children have for this new sport is amazing".

If you would like more information on this and other Project Teamwork events please contact Michael Ellerson at ellersonm1@lasalle.edu.
