La Salle Dominates Presbyterian, 19-5

Clinton, SC - The La Salle lacrosse team scored the first six goals of the game, which ultimately led to their first win of the season, as the Explorers went on to defeat the hosting Presbyterian Blue Hose on Sunday, 19-5.

Junior co-captain Stefany McKee and sophomore Ashley Rutz combined for 10 of the Explorers' 19 goals on the afternoon, as each player scored five goals and distributed two assists respectively. McKee's five scores tied her career-high when she totaled five goals against Louisville on March 9, 2008.

Junior Jill Davis and sophomores Nora McGurkin and Taylor Ruland both contributed two goals apiece and sophomore Brittany White scored the final La Salle goal at the 3:33 mark of the second period.

Aside from her two goals, McGurkin also added game-highs of four assists and seven ground balls.

The Explorers went on two separate 6-0 scoring runs in the second period with the first taking place from 25:06 to 19:53 and the other from 17:01 to 3:33.

On the afternoon, the Explorers totaled more shots than Presbyterian, 39-20, and also more than doubled the draw controls, 19-8. Rutz controlled the draw seven times for La Salle.

The Explorers (1-2) will travel to North Carolina for Wednesday's 11:00 AM meeting with Monmouth on the campus of Davidson College.
