Green & Mekongo Mbala Named All-Atlantic 10

PHILADELPHIA, PA – La Salle University junior basketball players Rodney Green (Philadelphia, PA/Prep Charter) and Yves Mekongo Mbala (Elizabeth, NJ/St. Patrick) are among those honored on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams.

 

Green, a 6’4 junior who leads the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game and assists with 105, was named second-team All-Atlantic 10.  Green was a pre-season selection to the conference’s third team but posted 13 games of 20 or more points including a career-high team season-high 30 against Massachusetts. 

 

Green is fifth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring, third in steals and heads into the post-season 25th on La Salle’s all-time scoring list with 1,336 career points.  He was also an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie selection during his freshman season.

 

Mekongo Mbala, who earlier this season was named ESPN the Magazine/Co-SIDA academic All-American, earned his second Academic All-Conference selection.  Mekongo Mbala returned to action on Saturday night after missing eight games with a broken bone in his hand,  He is the team’s third-leading scorer (11.8 ppg.) and leading rebounder (6.1 rpg.).  The native of Yaounde, Cameroon carries a 3.82 grade point average in Integrated Science/Business & Technology.

 

The Explorers begin A-10 Championship play Wednesday at noon when they rematch Saint Louis at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ.
