Edwards Qualifies for NCAA Regionals at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invite

PHILADELPHIA - Korey Edwards hit an NCAA regional qualifying mark in the 1,500 meter run to lead the Explorer distance runners at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday evening. Several Explorers were also in action at the Widener Invitational.

Edwards ran a 3:46.91 in qualifying for the regional meet, which will be held in Greensboro, N.C., on May 29-30. He placed third overall out of 75 runners and was just .72 off of the winning time. Sean Ward also competed in the race and crossed the finish line in 3:56.41.

Trevon Rainford ran strong as he qualified for IC4A's in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Rainford's mark of 9:14.51 was 10th overall out of 39 runners. Also in the race was Steven Grabowski, with a time of 9:54.15.

Freshman Samantha Gallagher ran her first collegiate 3,000 meter steeplechase on Friday evening and clocked an 11:09.33.

Over at Widener, freshman Ray Coles finished second in the 10,000 meter run while running unattached. Mark Del Monaco finished third overall. Complete Widener recap to follow when official results become available.
