Field Hockey Announces Five Recruits for '09 Campaign

April 2, 2009

After graduating four seniors who started at all positions, Coach Sarah Catlin brings in a class with a wide range of experience. All five student athletes continue the tradition of high academic standards and commitment to a broad range of interests existent on the current team.

Haley Jennings (William Allen/ Allentown, PA) had an outstanding career as the center mid in the highly competitive District XI where she and the Canaries earned district finals and a trip to the Pennsylvania State Tournament. Jennings has spent her career on defense and in midfield and will work to contribute in the same areas as an Explorer. She has participated in the National Field Hockey Festival as well as the Keystone State Games. She also is a pole vaulter for the track and field team and former teammate of current first year player, Becca Freed.

Joining Jennings is Rebecca Chylack (Souderton/ Souderton, PA), a three-year starting defender and 2008 Suburban One All Star. Chylack is a two time All-League selection and team captain. An alternate to the National Futures Tournament, Chylack will compete for a spot in the Explorer backfield this fall. Also an all- league selection and team captain, Chylack played four years of varsity soccer. A National Honor Society member, she is a former teammate of current first year player, Katelyn Haney.

Janel Paukovits (Northampton/ Northampton, PA) brings a more attacking style to the Explorer squad. A four year letter winner for the Konkrete Kids, Paukovits is a dangerous forward or attacking midfielder. A team captain and all area selection, Paukovits has competed in the National Field Hockey Festival and Keystone State Games. A member of the Dixie Styx and Marojoka Club teams, she was named the Outstanding Scholar Athlete for the LVIAC. A National Honor Society member, Paukovits is also the vice president of student council and coach of the 3rd/4th grade field hockey team in her area.

Solidifying the team's goalkeeping will be Lauren Wright (Spring-Ford/ Limerick, PA). Wright has played for her high school team as well as her club team, The Vipers. Six years of experience, including trips to California and extensive indoor tournaments gives Wright a terrific background heading to the college level. A strong student, Wright will look to challenge for time with current goalkeepers Emma Ruth and Britt Nyzio.

Rounding out the incoming class is Maddie Doub (Cherokee/ Marlton, NJ). She was the leading scorer and team captain during her senior season. A three year letter winner, Doub also participated in the New Jersey futures program for five years. Her National Field Hockey Festival team, Jersey Intensity, medaled in the 2008. She has also been a three year letter-winner in lacrosse with a state championship in her junior year.
