PHILADELPHIA - The men's varsity pair finished second and the varsity four finished third to lead the La Salle rowing team at the Bergen and Kelly cups on Saturday.

The pair boat crossed the finish line second out of four boats in the race by clocking a 7:50. They finished eight seconds behind winner Drexel and 25 seconds ahead of third-place Philadelphia University.

The varsity fours rowed a 7:12.2 to finish third out of six boats. They were behind only the two boats entered by Saint Joseph's by 10.6 and four seconds, respectively.

Also competing for the men was the freshman eight boat. They finished second in the two-boat race with a time of 6:32.6, behind Drexel in 6:24.2.

On the women's side, the varsity eight and novice eight boats were on the water. The varsity eights finished sixth with a 7:41.4, while the novices finished fourth in 7:56.3.

The Explorers return to the water on Friday, May 8, when they compete in the Dad Vail Regatta.
