Philadelphia, PA - The Philadelphia Area Sports Information Directors Association (Philly-SIDA) recently announced that senior Carleen Caldwell, junior Shannon Duval and sophomore Kieran Edling have been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Academic All-Area Teams.
These selections mark the first postseason honors for both Caldwell and Edling and the second for Duval. In early March, Duval was named to the Academic All-Conference Team by the Atlantic 10. Duval boasted the third highest GPA (3.81) on the Academic All-Area Team with Caldwell close behind (3.35).
Duval, a three-time 2008-09 Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week, was a Second Team All-Conference selection at the A-10 Championships in the 100-yard breast (1:03.68) and 200-yard breast (2:14.76).
At the A-10 Championships, Caldwell joined Duval and helped set school records in both the 400-yard free relay (3:29.84) and 200-yard medley relay (1:45.01).
Edling finished second in the 1000-yard free against George Washington on Nov. 1 and also placed fourth in the 400-yard IM's B-Final at the Bucknell Trials.
Earlier this month, Edling was named Treasurer of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the 2009-2010 school year.
