PHILADELPHIA - The school record set on Saturday by the men's 4x800 meter relay squad was extremely short-lived as the team broke the record today in the relay final at the IC4A Championship at Princeton University.
David Laratta, Korey Edwards, Terence McPeak and Trevon Rainford combined to run a 7:25.58 as they finished runner-up in the event final. They were less than one second off of the winning time of 7:24.72 run by the University at Albany.
The relay squad broke the school record of 7:26.08 set in yesterday's preliminary. Prior to that, the record sat untouched for 11 years as Marc Cianfrani, Brian Gallagher, Kevin Myles and Troy Harry set the mark of 7:26.94 in 1998.
The Explorers finished the IC4A Championship with eight points. Several La Salle track athletes now look forward to the NCAA Regional championship on May 29-30 at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.
