Erie, PA -- Friends, family and classmates of former La Salle and Cathedral Prep hoops star Julian Blanks will be holding a fundraiser to help offset health care costs for the guard who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma.
Blanks played at La Salle from 1998-2002 and was a four-year starter for the Explorers. Blanks led the Explorers in steals in all four seasons, and assists during his freshman and senior seasons.
He is ranked second on La Salle's all-time career assist list behind only Doug Overton. His 4.9 career average is fifth on the Explorer all-time assist list.
Blanks was thrust directly into a major role as an Explorer when he banked in a three-pointer to force overtime at Mount St. Mary's in his first collegiate game. Remarkably, he did the same thing just two games later when his triple forced overtime against Northeastern in the first round of the Lobo Classic in Albuquerque, NM.
The entire Explorer Athletic family and La Salle community supports Julian in his fight and wishes him best of luck for a swift return to good health.
