Explorers Headed to USA Nationals

PHILADELPHIA - Track season continues this week for several Explorer athletes as five current runners and alum Sean Quigley compete at the US Senior and Junior Nationals at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.

Korey Edwards leads the contingent of current Explorers as he will run in the 1,500 meter Senior National race. Edwards qualified for the race on Saturday as he posted a time of 3:44.41 at the American Milers' Club High Performance Series. His mark was the third-best time in school history behind Brian Gallagher and Sean Quigley. He will run in the first round of the national race on Thursday (6/25) at 7:05 PM PDT (10:05 PM EDT).

David Hausherr, Stephanie Bearish, Samantha Gallagher and Caitlin Storbeck will compete in the Junior National races. Hausherr, who redshirted the 2008-09 season, will run the 10K on Saturday (6/27) at 6:55 PM PDT (9:55 PM EDT).

Bearish is set to run in the final of the 3,000 meter race, which kicks off at 4:35 PM PDT (7:35 PM EDT) on Sunday (6/28). She ran the 3K once each in the indoor and outdoor seasons, clocking a 10:12.96 at the indoor Gotham Cup and a 10:29.66 at the McHale Cup.

Gallagher will run the 3,000 meter steeplechase on Sunday (6/28) at 3:25 PM PDT (6:25 PM EDT). She ran the steeplechase three times this season, including a season-best 10:58.25 at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet. She placed sixth in the Atlantic 10 with an 11:03.11 mark.

Storbeck's 1,500 meter first round race is scheduled for Saturday (6/27) at 12:40 PM PDT (3:40 PM EDT). She ran an outdoor season best 4:38.85 at the Raleigh Invitational in March.

Also competing in Oregon is former Explorer standout Sean Quigley, who qualified in both the 5,000 meter and 10,000 meter Senior National races. The 10K is slated for Thursday (6/25) at 8:30 PM PDT (11:30 PM EDT), and the 5K will run on Friday (6/26) at 8:15 PM PDT (11:15 PM EDT).
