ESPN Regional Television, Inc. (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, announced that tickets for the 2009 Charleston Classic go on sale beginning Monday, Aug. 17. The second annual Charleston Classic will be held on Nov. 19, 20 and 22, at Carolina First Arena. Tickets are available at www.CharlestonClassic.com, by calling the College of Charleston box office at (843) 953-2632 or at the Carolina First Arena Box Office.
Fans can purchase tickets to all six sessions (12 games) for $90 each, or single-session tickets (two games) for $20 each. "Booster tickets" are also available for $50, allowing entrance to all three sessions (six games) involving the pre-designated team of your choice.
The eight-team field includes La Salle, Davidson, Miami (Fla.), UNC Wilmington, Penn State, South Carolina, USF and Tulane. Four of the teams in the field played in the 2008-09 National Invitation Tournament, including NIT champion Penn State, Davidson, Miami and South Carolina.
The tournament consists of 12 games through three days. Each team will compete in one game per day, advancing through a bracket-tournament format. La Salle will take on South Carolina at 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 live on ESPNU in the first round. Davidson and USF will play in the other half of La Salle's bracket.
