PHILADELPHIA - La Salle seniors Kelly Dougherty, Haley Froshour and Colleen Lechner have been named captains of the 2009 field hockey team, first-year head coach Michelle Marks announced today. The Explorers open the season on Friday, August 28, at Monmouth.

Dougherty was an Atlantic 10 All-Rookie team selection as a freshman in 2006 after starting all 20 games.

Froshour earned second team all-Atlantic 10 honors last season after starting 19 games as a defender. An academic all-A-10 pick, she also was named to the All-Philadelphia team.

Lechner finished third on the team in goals (five) and points (10). She was a second team all-A-10 pick as a junior in 2007 after scoring seven goals and assisting on two more.

The home opener for the 2009 season is Wednesday, September 9 vs. Towson.
