Sept. 20, 2009
PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's tennis team looked to start the 2009 season with consecutive victories, but two losses in doubles action on Sunday was the deciding factor as Saint Peter's held on to win, 4-3.
"It was a very hard-fought match and it came down to a few points in doubles," said La Salle head coach Ed Colfer. "We had a chance to win because of how close the match was."
Junior George Gennaoui picked up the first singles victory with a win over senior JJ Gramatica, 6-2, 6-4, and then freshmen Trevor Donovan and Robert Knaster followed up with wins at No. 5 and 6 singles.
The Explorers (1-1) will host Millersville on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 3 PM.
