PHILADELPHIA - Men's soccer freshman Austin Johnson (Avalon, NJ/Middle Twp.) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week for his outstanding efforts on the field last week, along with Xavier's John Marshall.
Johnson scored the first two goals of his career last Wednesday against Navy to propel the Explorers to an eventual 4-0 shutout of the Midshipmen. His effort helped the team become the first Atlantic 10 squad this season to top the Mids.
Johnson was 2-for-2 on goal attempts, including a game-winner, and now has four points on the season.
He has played in all eight games so far, and is averaging 27 minutes per contest. He has taken six shots total, four of which have been on goal.
Johnson and the rest of the Explorers return to action when they head to the University of Delaware on Tuesday night for a 7:00 PM tilt against the Blue Hens.
