2009-10 Men's Basketball Schedule
PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle men's basketball team will appear on television 12 times, including seven on national TV, during the 2009-10 season as the Atlantic 10 schedule was released today. Of the seven nationally televised games, five will appear on the ESPN family of networks.
In addition to the four ESPN non-conference games previously announced (South Carolina, Villanova, Kansas and Oklahoma State), the Explorers will visit Temple on Jan. 30 in an ESPN2 game at noon. National broadcasts on CBS College Sports include Xavier (Jan. 7) at Tom Gola Arena and at Dayton (Feb. 18).
Five more A-10 games will be broadcast regionally by CBS College Sports, including home contests against George Washington (Jan. 13), Saint Louis (Feb. 6) and St. Bonaventure (Feb. 21). Road games at Richmond (Jan. 16) and Saint Joseph's (Mar. 6, Palestra) will also be broadcast regionally by CBS College Sports.
"Our schedule should provide us with a strong RPI, opportunities for quality wins and the challenge of earning a post-season bid," head coach Dr. John Giannini said. "The national television coverage is great and reflects the growth in our program's stature. It will provide our fans and recruits across the country the chance to watch La Salle basketball."
The conference slate tips off when Xavier, which has won the last three regular season A-10 titles and advanced to the Sweet 16 in 2009, arrives at Tom Gola Arena on Jan. 7. The Explorers will also host Charlotte (Jan. 23), Rhode Island (Feb. 2), Temple (Feb. 28) and Massachusetts (Mar. 3) in addition to the televised home contests.
After taking on Massachusetts on Jan. 10 in Springfield, MA (MassMutual Center), La Salle will make road trips to Richmond (Jan. 16), Fordham (Jan. 27), Duquesne (Feb. 14), and George Washington (Feb. 24) to complement the three road games on television.
It was also announced that the homecoming game on Nov. 14 versus Hampton will begin at 3:00 PM. The Big 5 game at Villanova will tip-off at 3:30 PM on Nov. 28 and will be televised on ESPN2.
Game times and promotions will be announced at a later date.
