PHILADELPHIA - La Salle senior Korey Edwards picked up his first Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week award this week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Edwards led a strong Explorer contingent at the NYU Gotham Cup on Friday at the Armory in New York City. He clocked an 8:25.97 as he topped the field of 57 runners in his first race of the 2009-10 season.

Edwards returned for his senior season with high expectations amid a strong resume. He is the reigning Atlantic 10 champion in the indoor 1,000 meters and the outdoor 800 meters.
