La Salle To Honor 20th Anniversary of 1989-90 Men's Basketball Team On Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - The 1989-90 La Salle University men's basketball team, which won a school record 30 games, will be honored on Saturday when the Explorers take on Charlotte at 2 PM. The 2010 class of the La Salle Hall of Athletes will also be recognized at the game, which includes the head coach of the 1989-90 team, Speedy Morris.

The Explorers went 30-2 that season, including a perfect 16-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Led by National Player of the Year Lionel Simmons and future NBA players Doug Overton and Randy Woods, La Salle won 22 straight games before falling to Clemson, 79-75, in the NCAA Tournament Second Round.

Members of the 1989-90 team who will be in attendance include Simmons, Mike Bergin, Gus Carr, Bron Holland, Jack Hurd, Bobby Johnson, Keith Morris, Mike Stock, head coach Speedy Morris and assistant coach Rich Prendergast.
