Rodney Green Named Big 5 Player Of The Week

Jan. 25, 2010

PHILADELPHIA - Senior Rodney Green, who scored a career-high 32 points on Saturday versus Charlotte, has been named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, it was announced today. It is the fourth career honor for the Philadelphia native, who averaged 23.5 points and 5.5 assists per game for the Explorers.

The Prep Charter graduate began the week with 15 points and six assists in a 76-57 Big 5 victory over Penn in his final contest at the Palestra. He was 5-for-10 from the field in the win.

Green, who passed Tim Legler and Jack Hurd to move into 13th place on the all-time scoring list with 1,715 points, scored 21 of his 32 points in the second half on Saturday. He shot 12-for-25 from the field, both career-highs, and added five assists.

His performance was the most points scored by an Explorer since Steven Smith had 41 versus Central Connecticut State on December 18, 2005. It is the third most scored by a Big 5 player this season behind Scottie Reynolds' 36 points at Louisville and Juan Fernandez's 33 vs. Villanova.

The Explorers (10-9, 2-3 A-10) travel to Fordham on Wednesday at 7 PM.
