Explorer Women Edge St. Francis (PA) 138-124 in Final Home Meet of Season

PHILADELPHIA - Shannon Duval and Emily Heath picked up two golds apiece to lead the Explorer women's swimming and diving squad past St. Francis (PA) in Kirk Pool on Saturday.

Duval won the 200 yard freestyle and 200 yard breaststroke, and helped the 200 yard medley relay team to a win. Her winning 200 free time of 1:52.32 set a new team record in the event. She also dominated the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:16.33 to top the competition by 11.4 seconds.

Duval was also the second leg of the winning 200 yard medley relay squad. She, along with Jess Carbin, Aubrey Cefalo and Holly Biro, combined for a winning time of 1:48.60 to put the Explorers in the lead after the first event of the day.

Heath was dominant in the distance freestyle events, taking a 24-second win in the 1,000 free. She clocked a 10:21.51 in that event. Heath also won the 500 free with a time of 5:06.28, and took third in the 400 yard individual medley with a 4:41.74.

Carbin also picked up an individual gold as she posted the only sub-minute time in the 100 yard backstroke with a mark of 58.27 seconds.

Also winning an event on Saturday was Liz Jordan, who captured first place in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06 even.

Brittany Sedberry picked up a win as well, with a first place time of 4:34.04 in the 400 yard individual medley.

The 200 yard free relay squad of Duval, Biro, Alex Stoddart and Liz Jordan earned silver, as they were just half a second off of the winning time. They posted a 1:38.40 in the event.

The Explorers have one more regular season meet prior to the Atlantic 10 Championships. They head across town to Penn on Wednesday (2/3) for a 5:00 PM meet in Penn's Sheerr Pool.
