Dolhansky Earns Second Conference Rookie Honor

Oct. 19, 2010

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - La Salle midfielder Anna Dolhansky was recognized as the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. This is the second time this season that she has earned this honor from the conference.

Dolhansky registered her first collegiate two-goal game in leading La Salle to a 2-1 double overtime victory at St. Bonaventure on Friday afternoon. The freshman midfielder gave the Explorers a 1-0 lead just a minute and 12 seconds after halftime as she put back a rebound off a free kick.

The Blackwood, NJ native then registered the golden goal, her first collegiate game winner, 45 seconds into the second overtime to lift La Salle to its first conference win of the season.

For the season, Dolhansky is sixth in the A-10 in overall points (16) and tied for sixth in goals (7), while averaging 1.00 points a game. She trails only teammate Renee Washington in both categories among freshmen in the league. In A-10 ONLY matches, she is tied for fifth in points (6) and tied for second in goals (3), while leading the Explorers with those three conference play tallies.

Dolhansky becomes just the fourth Explorer ever to be named A-10 Rookie of the Week twice during a freshman campaign. The first was Amy Schneider during the 1999 season and she earned the honor four times, while Krista Lee (2000) and Dana O'Brien (2008) were selected just twice as well.

La Salle returns to the field this weekend with home games against Richmond (Friday, 7 PM) and George Washington (Sunday, 1 PM).
