The La Salle swimming & diving teams defeated Drexel in a dual meet at Kirk pool. The men took the meet by a score of 174-120, while the women won 186-114.
Emily Heath swept the distance events, winning the 1000-free in and the 500-free in 5:10.30.
Elizabeth Jordan won the 200-free in 1:56.41. Jessica Carbin took the 100-back in 59.90, with Alex Stoddart finishing in second.
Jessica Simunek won the 100-breast (1:07.87), as well as the 200-breast (2:26.74) and posted a second-place finish in the 200-IM.
La Salle went 1-2-3 in both the 50-free and 100-free off strong performances by Holly Biro, Jordan and Katie Snee.
On the men’s side, Zach Anderson also swept the distance events, taking the 1000-free in 9:51.63 and the 500-free in 4:46.82.
Dan Fitzgerald won the 100-back in 53.40. Edward Carnes and Tom Lawrie placed first and second in the 200-back.
Charlie Zettel took the 200-fly in 1:52.60, with teammates Joe Jung and Robby Gravel finishing in second and third. Gravel would go on to win the 200-IM in 2:00.06.
Austin Thomas captured the top spot in the 50-free (21.07), as well as the 100-fly (51.44).
The Explorers swept both of the men’s and women’s relay events (200-medley and 400-free). In the final event of the day, the La Salle team of Fitzgerald, Thomas, Zettel and Dave Derr won a competitive 400-free relay with a time of 3:10.11.
In the diving competitions, Laurie McLaughlin and Shauna Hannings placed second and third, respectively, in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Jordan Baker took second in the 1-meter and third in the 3-meter.
La Salle will be back in the pool on Nov. 6 when it swims in a dual meet against St. Bonaventure and Duquesne in Buffalo, NY.
