The men’s Swimming & Diving team defeated Rider, 195-104, but lost to Delaware 169-130, while the women’s squad fell to both Rider (162-135) and Delaware (213-84).
For the men, Austin Thomas finished on top in the 100-fly (51.14) and 50-free (20.90). Thomas’ 50-free time is one of the top 100 amongst collegiate swimmers so far this season.
Charlie Zettel picked up a first-place finish in the 200-fly (1:52.93), as well as a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-fly (51.39) and 200-IM (1:55.98).
Blase Szyszko took the 200-breast in 2:09.60 and notched a second-place finish in the 100-breast (58.72).
Greg Fischer won the 1000-free (9:49.44), while Zach Anderson finished right behind him at 9:52.06.
In the 200-free, the Explorers stacked three swimmers at the 2-3-4 finishes on the efforts of Cameron Cabrera (1:44.41), Sean McCall (1:44.51) and Brian Batson (1:44.65).
In the relays, La Salle took second in both the 200-medley (1:35.13) and the 400-free.
Missing key contributors, the women’s team did not score as high as it would have liked.
Elizabeth Jordan had a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-breast (1:06.74) and 50-free (24.30) and also finished third in the 100-free (53.91).
Jessica Simunek took second in the 200-breast (2:24.89).
In the distance events, Emily Heath posted La Salle’s best finish, third place in the 500-free (5:11.02)
The Explorers took third in the 200-medley relay (1:51.31).
In the diving competitions, Laurie McLaughlin won the 3-meter dive (270.40) as well as the 1-meter dive (245.15). Jordan Baker took second in the men’s 3-meter (280.90).
La Salle will next take part in the three-day Frank Elm Super Splash held at the Rutgers Aquatic Center from November 19-21.
