Men's Basketball Signs Jerrell Wright and Steve Zack To National Letters of Intent

Nov. 15, 2010

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle head men's basketball coach Dr. John Giannini has announced the signing of two players -- forward Jerrell Wright and center Steve Zack -- to National Letters of Intent. The duo will begin play in 2011-12.

Wright (6-8, 240) is a senior forward from Dobbins Tech in Philadelphia. Wright earned second team all-state Class AAA by the Associated Press after averaging 21.7 points per game as a junior. He picked up second team all-city from the Philadelphia Daily News and first team all-Public League Division B recognition. Wright played AAU for the Hunting Park Warriors.

"Jerrell has been a priority recruit for us," Giannini said. "He was as productive as any high school player I saw last year. He took last summer to focus on school work rather than traveling to basketball tournaments. He did not play outside our area, but I feel he compares favorably with many top recruits nationally. He will have an impact next year and should have a great career."

Zack (6-11, 240) was a second-team Mid-Penn Keystone Division all-star last season and helped Red Land (23-5) to the Mid-Penn Keystone Division title. Also named to the Harrisburg Patriot News Big 15 team, he averaged 13.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. Zack played AAU with the York Ballers.

Steve Zack

"Steve perfectly fits the mold of a big man we want in our program," Giannini said. "He has great size and motivation which will allow him to develop into a successful Atlantic 10 player. I am eager to help Steve progress because I feel he has the potential to help us a great deal. Moreover, Steve and Jerrell are truly great people that our coaches and team members look forward to welcoming."
