NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Atlantic 10 Conference revealed the 2010 Women's Soccer All-Conference accolades as announced by Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade on Wednesday, November 3 and four La Salle players were among those honorees.
Junior defender Jess Hopton highlighted the selections as she garnered First Team, Gabby Pakhtigian was named All-Academic, and Anna Dolhansky and Renee Washington each were named to a pair of teams, both earning Second Team and All-Rookie accolades.
Hopton was La Salle's top scoring defender, as she was tied for second on the team with five assists and chipped in one goal. Three of her assists were on game-winning goals, and of her totals, five of her points (one goal, three assists) came in A-10 action.
Pakhtigian earned a spot on the All-Academic squad after posting a 10-8-2 overall mark in net and leading the league with 95 saves. She posted four shutouts during the season, while playing every minute in goal for the Explorers.
Dolhansky and Washington garner their duplicate spots after combining for 18 goals and five assists during the season.
Washington led the Explorers with 10 goals and three assists, was the freshmen A-10 leader in points (23), tied for second in the conference in overall goals, and tied for first among freshmen.
Dolhansky was tied for eighth in overall goals with her eight and was third among freshmen, while leading La Salle with four goals in A-10 action.
The University of Dayton highlighted this year's awards, as voted on by the league's head coaches, claiming four of the five individual accolades including Colleen Williams as Offensive Player of the Year, Kathleen Beljan as the league's Defensive Player of the Year and Jerica DeWolfe as Midfielder of the Year, while Mike Tucker earned the nod as Coach of the Year. Richmond's Becca Wann garnered A-10 Rookie of the Year honors.
The A-10 All-Conference accolades were announced on the eve of the 18th annual Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Soccer Championship, which gets under way Thursday, November 4 at 5:00 PM at the URI Soccer Complex on the campus of the University of Rhode Island when La Salle takes on Duquesne.
