PHILADELPHIA - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has awarded the La Salle women’s soccer team a Team Academic award for the 2010 season.

La Salle joins a total of 639 soccer teams (195 men, 444 women) who posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher in 2010 to earn the recognition.

The Explorers, who compiled a 3.25 team GPA on the year, have received this award in each of head coach Paul Royal’s eight seasons at the La Salle helm.

Goalie Gabby Pakhtigian was recognized by the Atlantic 10 for her work in the classroom earlier this season, earning a place on the conference’s All-Academic team.
