PHILADELPHIA - Despite all the snow on the ground, La Salle Baseball has been hard at work preparing for the 2010 season, which begins this weekend. The Explorers will travel down to North Carolina State to take on the Wolfpack in a three-game series starting on Friday at 3 PM.

The series will continue on Saturday with a 2 PM start and conclude on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1 PM.

La Salle will look to open its second consecutive season with a victory for the first time since joining the Atlantic 10 Conference. If they do, however, it will be at the expense of another Atlantic Coast Conference opponent, as the Explorers knocked off Duke in last year's season opener, 5-2, on Feb. 20. It was La Salle's first win over an ACC opponent as a member of the A-10.

NC State finished 25-31 last year after a 42-22 2008 campaign that saw the Wolfpack advance to the NCAA Athens Super Regional. Last year, they were 17-17 at Doak Field at Dail Park, their home ballpark, which underwent a $5 million renovation after the 2004 season, and since, they own a 121-44 record in five years.
