La Salle's elementary/special education bachelor's program requires two semesters of student teaching, one in an elementary classroom and one in a special education classroom. The graduate program requires one semester.

The La Salle University Secondary Education Program is accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Education

Instructional I Certificate are available in Biology, Chemistry, Communications, English, Environmental Education, Foreign Languages, including Spanish, French, German, Italian, General Science, Earth and Space Science, Mathematics, and Social Studies with a focus on History.

La Salle's education department assists families with autism with the LADDER Family Center, or La Salle Autism and Developmental Disabilities Education Resources. La Salle University is hosting a Conference on Autism Spectrum Disorder on Friday, April 30, 2010.

La Salle's Graduate Program in Education offers a unique alternative that views each child as an individual learner with needs that often can't be met through an industrialized approach to education.

Department of Communication

La Salle offers a wide array of extra-curricular activities that relate to talents and interests. They are:

- La Salle TV, our educational access cable TV station - The Collegian, La Salle's weekly student newspaper - WEXP Radio, La Salle's student-run campus radio station - The Grimoire, La Salle's highly-respected literary magazine - The Masque, La Salle's student theater group which stages 3 productions annually - The Film Society, which hosts screenings and discussions of Hollywood films - The Explorer, our 200+ page color yearbook - The Public Relations Student Society of America - Association of Women in Communication

Communications students interned this summer at 94.1 WYSP, ABC 27 in Harrisburg, News 12 in Long Island, Philadelphia's NBC 10, Fox 29, Philadelphia Inquirer, Comcast Sports, Johnson & Johnson, Subaru, Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau and many more.

The Communication Department has a 1600 square foot TV studio, audio studio, audio production suite and video editing suites.

La Salle gives students the chance to gain valuable production experience as early as their freshman year.
