PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University's Morgan Robertson has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 First Team, for the second consecutive year, it was announced Thursday. Robertson, a senior forward on the women's basketball team, will now move on to the national ballot and have a chance to be voted an Academic All-American - which would be La Salle's fourth all-time.
For the season, Robertson leads the Explorers in a number of categories including points per game (10.5), rebounds per game (6.2), and free throws made (63), while carrying a 3.89 GPA while pursuing a dual major in political science and psychology.
Robertson has reached double figures in points in 13 games, leading La Salle eight times including the team's high for the season (21 at Long Island, 11/15). She has led the team in rebounding 13 times, including grabbing double figures in rebounds three times, and has recorded two double-doubles this season.
Again, this is a repeat selection for Robertson, who was also named to the 2009 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 First Team. It was one of five academic teams she was selected to last year, which includes the NACDA Division I-AAA Scholar-Athlete Team, the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team, the Philadelphia Big 5 All-Academic Team, and the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team.
Robertson is the only women's basketball player from the A-10 to be named First Team, as Andrea Doneth of Saint Bonaventure (District 1), Dayton's Kristin Daugherty from Dayton (District 4), and Amanda Kemezys from Saint Louis (District 7) were all Second Team selections.
In order to be eligible for the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and be at least a sophomore in school. The national ballot will consist of the first team honorees from each of eight districts around the country. The basketball Academic All-America teams will be announced later this year.
The other members of the District 2 First Team along with Robertson were Liz Repella (West Virginia), Joyce Novacek (Bucknell), Trisha Krewson (Bucknell), and Lori Bjork (Maryland).

La Salle Women's Basketball has had three players earn four Academic All-American honors. Mary Greybush was the first, in 1991 earning a Third Team selection, followed by a pair by Jenn Cole, in 1992, First Team, and 1993, Second Team. The last was Jen Zenszer in 2001, who earned a Third Team selection.
This is the third straight year for a women's basketball player to be recognized as Melanie Gibbons earned Academic All-Region District 2 Second Team in 2008, which was the Explorers first honor since Zenszer in 2001.
Along with Men's Basketball's Yves Mekongo and Steve Weingarten, who were also named to the Academic All-District 2 First Team, La Salle is one of only four schools nationally to have both a male and female player honored on an academic all-district team.
