2010-11 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Officers Announced

March 26, 2010

PHILADELPHIA - The 2010-11 officers for La Salle's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee were recently elected. Swimmer Kieran Edling (President), baseball player Adam Kammler (Vice-President), swimmer Blase Szyszko (Secretary) and volleyball player Kourtney Clark (Treasurer) will lead the student-athlete group next school year.

La Salle's SAAC participates in a variety of activities to benefit student-athletes as well as the surrounding community. This year, the group partnered with the campus organization Caring For Kids to run a holiday toy drive for local children. SAAC also works closely with Project Teamwork to elicit participation in community service activities, including the Logan Kick Off Celebration.

The SAAC is also represented on the Point, a group that consists of the leaders of registered student organizations, to help promote association between students, student organizations, the Division of Student Affairs and the University community.

Another central role of the SAAC is to provide a student-athlete voice within the NCAA structure. As President and Vice-President, Edling and Kammler will be involved with other SAAC representatives throughout the Atlantic 10 Conference to recommend and review proposed NCAA legislation which they will bring back to La Salle to solicit feedback from student-athletes. The SAAC has a voice on administrative matters on the campus level as well as the conference and national level.

To get involved in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, contact one of the four officers, your team's SAAC representatives or your coach.
