Another Successful Year Celebrated By La Salle And Logan Elementary

April 22, 2010

After another successful year of La Salle University's partnership with Logan Elementary School, students, faculty and administration from both schools gathered at Logan Elementary for their annual End of the Year Luncheon on Wednesday afternoon. The Project Teamwork and Big Brothers/Big Sisters mentoring program, which has been in effect for six years, matches La Salle student-athletes with Logan Elementary students.

Each student-athlete interacted with their "little" over the course of the afternoon along with the rest of the children in attendance. The "big" and "little" association represents the relationship between each La Salle student-athlete (big) and their elementary school match (little).

"It's great that I get to help these children find role models in our student-athletes," said Director of Project Teamwork / Community Service, Sherman Diaz.

Aside from today's traditional function, the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program held an event at a La Salle basketball home game back in February. Matches from both La Salle and Logan, family members and friends were invited to the game to take part in the fun.
