PHILADELPHIA - Dave Laratta, Nick Crits, Trevon Rainford and Terence McPeak were selected as the La Salle Student-Athletes of the Week, based on a vote by the Office of Athletic Communications.
In their final regular-season weekend leading up to the Atlantic 10 Championship, the quartet raced in the prestigious Men's 4x800 Championship of America race at the historic Penn Relays. They clocked a 7:33.34, well under the IC4A benchmark, in racing in the top level collegiate race at the Relays and racing among the nation's elite.
The quartet finished within 18 seconds of the winning time of 7:15.38, posted by Virginia.
Laratta led off the race with a 1:52.90 split, followed by Crits with a 1:53.62 and Rainford with a 1:54.39. McPeak anchored the relay with a 1:52.44 split.
The Explorers turn their focus to the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship, set for this Saturday and Sunday (May 1-2) at the University of Massachusetts.
