Golf Finished Second Round At A-10 Championship

May 1, 2010

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, FL - Sophomore Ed Carnes recorded his second straight score of 76 as the La Salle golf team completed day two at the Atlantic 10 Championship at Mission Inn Resort. Classmate Randy Kurzinsky added a 77 for the Explorers.

Sophomore Tyler Batory added an 80, while freshmen Joe Taormina (102) and James Chrismer (103) rounded out the scorecard.

Sophomore Olafur Loftsson fired a four-under 67 and Charlotte shot three-under for its round as the 49ers moved one step closer to their fifth consecutive title following second round action.

Loftsson's low round of the day was highlighted by five birdies, while teammates Paul Ferrier and Corey Nagy each shot even-par 71 on Saturday. Seeking to become just the fifth player in league history to win consecutive A-10 individual titles and the first since Xavier's Steve Dixon (1998-99), Nagy (-4) holds a two-shot lead over Loftsson (-2) and a three-shot advantage over freshman Daniel Walker (-1) of Richmond.

Charlotte (+1) holds a 13-stroke advantage over Richmond (+14), which posted a round of six-over for the day. Xavier (+30) stands in third place, followed by Dayton (+35), George Washington (+39), St. Bonaventure (+55), Rhode Island (+56), Fordham (+62), Temple (+63), Saint Joseph's (+70), Duquesne (+95) and La Salle (+108).

Play concludes on Sunday at 8 AM.
