PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle University Volleyball program has released its schedule for the 2010 season and will begin competition at home against Delaware on August 27 at 1:00 pm.  That same evening, the Explorers will play their first match of the La Salle Invitational versus Valparaiso.  Also participating in the tournament are Niagara and Hartford.

“I am really looking forward to this season with many starters returning and a lot more experience than we had in previous years,” said volleyball coach Dave Stever.

The Explorers will play in three more regular-season tournaments, all during the month of September.  The Big 5 Tournament at the Palestra, with Villanova, Temple and Penn participating, will take place from September 3-4.

“The Big 5 tournament at the Palestra will be a tough tournament,” said Stever.  “Penn and Temple made it into post season play last year with Penn advancing to the NCAA tournament.”  

The Explorers will travel to Memphis, TN for the Memphis Invitational on September 10-11 and play against Air Force, Memphis and Tennessee State.  The final regular-season tournament will be the Lafayette Volleyball Tournament, held in Easton, Pa on September 17-18.  Lafayette, St. Francis (NY) and Delaware State will also compete in the tournament.

The first A-10 match for the Explorers will be on the road at Fordham on September 24.  La Salle will open its home conference slate against Xavier on October 8.  Other home conference matchups include Dayton, Duquesne, Saint Louis, Fordham, Temple and Rhode Island.

Rider, Coppin State and Saint Peter’s round out La Salle’s non-conference opponents.
