PHILADELPHIA -
Recent La Salle graduate Rodney Green worked out for the Miami Heat on Wednesday, June 2, and has three more workouts scheduled in preparation for the NBA Draft on June 24. Green will also visit the Charlotte Bobcats on June 8, the New Jersey Nets on June 10 and the Milwaukee Bucks on June 15.
The June 10 workout in New Jersey is a group workout that includes 23 teams: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Denver, Golden State, Houston, Indiana, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma City, Philadelphia, Sacramento, San Antonio, Toronto and Washington.
"We have received favorable NBA feedback about Rodney and we are happy he is getting these well-deserved opportunities," La Salle head coach Dr. John Giannini said. "As a draft choice or free agent, he will have a chance to earn a place in the NBA."
Green led the Explorers, and was second in the Big 5, with an 18.5 points per game average. He also earned first team NABC All-District and second team all-Atlantic 10 honors.
The Philadelphia native averaged 5.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in his final campaign. Green finished his career ninth on the all-time points (1,914) and assists (390) lists at La Salle.
He increased his draft stock at two post-season events--the Reese's Collegiate All-Star Game at the Final Four and the Portsmouth Invitational. Green scored 18 points in 20 minutes at the Reese's All-Star Game and was named to the All-Portsmouth Invitational team after averaging 16.0 points per game in three contests.
