PHILADELPHIA - Recent graduate Mary Pat Conville was voted to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team, announced by the Inquirer on Tuesday.
Conville wrapped up her career as an Explorer this spring after starting every possible game the past four years. She put together a strong senior season, batting .345 with 48 hits, 12 of those for doubles. She was first on the team in total bases (60) and second in runs batted in (20).
Conville graduated in May with a degree in Education, after spending the spring season as a full time student-athlete and full-time student teacher. Earlier this summer, she was honored with a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team selection for her accomplishments.
To be eligible for the Academic All-Area team, nominees must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The team is voted on by sports information directors at the 28 Philadelphia-area institutions. Sam Ingersoll of West Chester University was named the Academic All-Area Performer of the Year.
