La Salle graduate Rodney Green will play with the Boston Celtics in the Airtran Airways Pro Summer League which begins on Monday, July 5 in Orlando, FL. He joins fellow Explorer graduate Vernon Goodridge (Sixers) in the league.
Green will team with first round draft pick Avery Bradley (Texas) and second round selection Luke Harangody (Notre Dame) on the team. Other familiar faces include Ryan Thompson (Rider), Ryan Wittman (Cornell) and Tony Gaffney (UMass).
The squad will open summer play on July 5 at 5:00 PM, when they face the Oklahoma City Thunder. They face the Philadelphia 76ers to open summer play on July 6 at 5:00, and will also face Charlotte, Indiana and New Jersey throughout the week.
Green led the Explorers, and was second in the Big 5, with an 18.5 points per game average. He also earned first team NABC All-District and second team all-Atlantic 10 honors.
The Philadelphia native averaged 5.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in his final campaign. Green finished his career ninth on the all-time points (1,914) and assists (390) lists at La Salle.
