PHILADELPHIA - The 2010-11 La Salle Athletic season opens on Sunday, August 22 at 1 PM as the women's soccer team hosts Canisius at McCarthy Stadium. Paul Royal's team reported to camp about two weeks ago and is poised to make a run at an Atlantic 10 Conference Championship berth.
Speaking of the A-10 Conference, in preseason voting conducted by the league's head coaches, the Explorers were picked to finish sixth as Dayton was chosen to repeat as A-10 Champions. The six-team A-10 Women's Soccer Championship will be held Nov. 4-7 at the URI Soccer Complex in Kingston, RI.
"After our first full preseason on campus in 10 years, I am very confident in the quality and depth of our players," said Royal. "I am excited about seeing some of the young players perform as well as out upperclassmen taking over in a leadership role.
"The team has worked really hard throughout the preseason fine-tuning our system and they look prepared for a successful start."
La Salle will play 11 non-conference games, starting Sunday and includes participating in three tournaments throughout the season. The Explorers will play just nine A-10 games and will look to qualify for the A-10 Tournament. To view the preseason A-10 release Click here (in PDF Format)
