Women's Track Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Squad

Aug. 5, 2010

PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle women's track and field team was once again named an All-Academic Team by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA).

The Explorers boasted a 3.21 team grade point average, well above the 3.0 required for eligibility on the All-Academic list.

La Salle is one of 151 institutions recognized on the women's All-Academic list, along with seven fellow Atlantic 10 members (Charlotte, Dayton, Fordham, Rhode Island, Richmond, Saint Louis and Temple).

The Explorers have long been excellent in the classroom as well as on the track. This season, Meghan Lutz earned USTFCCCA All-Academic status individually and Stephanie Bearish was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team. Nearly a dozen Explorers also earned Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll status for the Spring 2010 term for earning a GPA of 3.5 or greater.

Last fall, many of the team members helped the cross country squad to a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team recognition as well.
