PHILADELPHIA - Junior cross country runner Stephanie Bearish has been named the La Salle Student-Athlete of the Week, based on a vote by the Office of Athletic Communications.

Bearish kicked off the 2010 season with a top 20 finish at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Saturday. She finished 19th overall out of 179 runners by clocking a 21:48.0 on the six-kilometer course.

The women's team, which started the season ranked ninth in the Mid-Atlantic region, finished fourth out of 14 teams. The Explorers were among several ranked squads and finished in the mix with No. 3 Georgetown, No. 2 Princeton, No. 5 Penn State and No. 13 Navy.

Bearish and the rest of the Explorers return to action on Saturday, when the squads split time between the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City and the Monmouth Invitational at Holmdel Park in Holmdel, NJ.
