PHILADELPHIA - Freshman cross country runner Anne Areias was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday. She shares the honor with Abby Fischer of Xavier.

Areias clocked a 22:16.6 in the six-kilometer race at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State on Saturday. The Southampton, PA, native finished 31st out of 179 runners in her first collegiate race, and helped the ninth-ranked Explorers to a fourth place team finish among some of the Mid-Atlantic region's elites.

The Explorers return to action on Saturday when they split time between the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions (Van Cortlandt Park, NY) and the Monmouth Invitational (Holmdel Park; Holmdel, NJ).
