On the road again... Participating in the Lafayette Invitational in Easton, Pa. this weekend, the Explorers are in the middle of a 15 game series away from Tom Gola Arena. They will play their next home match against Xavier on October 8th.
Scouting the opponent... Delaware State: Last season La Salle split a pair of meetings against Delaware State. The Explorers fell 3-1 to the Lady Hornets in the Delaware State Tournament, but bested DSU in straight sets during a meeting later in the season. The Lady Hornets enter the Lafayette Invitational at 2-8 for the season and on a seven game losing streak Lafayette: The Explorers won their last meeting with the Leopards, 3-1, at the La Salle Invitational in 2008. Lafayette dropped its last three games at the Columbia Classic last weekend, during which senior Kayly Emler reached 1,000 career kills. Quinnipiac: The Bobcats picked up their first win of the season last weekend against Hartford while hosting the Quinnipiac Invitational. The Explorers also defeated Hartford, 3-1, earlier this season.
Familiar faces... When the Explorers meet Delaware State during the Lafayette Invitational, former DSU player and current La Salle assistant coach Cassandra Joyner will be on the sidelines against her old team. The 2010 graduate became the first DSU player in school history to reach 1,000 kills and was a two-time All MEAC first team selection.
Record book watch... On Sept. 7th at St. Francis College, Kourtney Clark broke into the Top Ten all-time in career assists at La Salle and now has 1,222 for her career. With 323 assists in twelve matches to date this season, Clark could eclipse teammate Carly Conlon who is ninth on the all-time list with 1,678, and Amanda Woods, who sits eighth on the list after registering 1,698 career assists while playing in the Blue and Gold from 2001-04.
All aces... As of Wednesday, La Salle ranked third in the A-10 in service aces per set with 1.41. Lauren Noga ranks tenth in the A-10 in service aces per set with .30 - that's almost one each match. Breanna Mazalewski had a strong service game against Tennessee State on Saturday, notching four aces in the match.
Twice as nice... Kelly Scanlon notched her second double double of the week against Tennessee State last Saturday, registering 14 kills and 17 digs. Earlier in the week the sophomore added 15 kills and 10 ten digs in La Salle's win over St. Francis for her first double double of the season.
All-Tournament honoree... Mazalewski was named to the All-Tournament team at the Memphis Invitational last weekend. The Allentown, Pa. native finished with 29 digs in the tournament.
