PHILADELPHIA - The 2010 Explorer Club Auction and Reception took place in Tom Gola Arena on Saturday, September 18 attracting more than 200 guests. Auction items ranged from Philadelphia professional sports tickets, La Salle sports memorabilia to fashion accessories and exotic vacation getaways. Scott Schaffer, '85, co-anchor of Newswatch 16 on WNEP-TV in Scranton, was Master of Ceremonies for the event that featured complimentary food and beverage, a bucket raffle, and a silent and live auction.
Prior to the live segment, La Salle President, Brother Michael McGinniss `70, Athletic Director, Dr. Tom Brennan, and auction Co-Chairs, Tom Leonard `70 and Wade Brosius '88, addressed the crowd thanking them for their support of La Salle University and the athletic department. Live items that went to the highest bidder included a four day, three night stay in the Cayman Islands and in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, a one week timeshare anywhere in the world and AT&T Golf Tournament Passes.
One of the new features to the auction was remote bidding, which was utilized by bidders who were unable to attend. Remote bidders had a wide variety of options to submit their bids via email, instant messenger and through a live chat room.
The Second Chance Online Auction will feature a limited number of premium items that will be available within one week. Make sure to visit GoExplorers.com for a list of items available for bidding.
