Scott Bovitch Promoted To Head Strength And Conditioning Coach

Sept. 27, 2010

PHILADELPHIA - Scott Bovitch, the assistant strength and conditioning coach for the past season, has been promoted to head strength and conditioning coach at La Salle, it was announced today.

“I am excited to take on additional responsibilities and to work with our student athletes to help them succeed in their physical development,” Bovitch said.

Bovitch, who first came to La Salle in August 2009, has prior experience on a collegiate level as a strength and conditioning assistant at Penn State.

It was there under the guidance of Chip Harrison, the Director of Strength/Fitness, that Bovitch shaped the strength and conditioning philosophy he brings to La Salle.

“Chip taught me how to focus on the varying forms of motivation that each student athlete will need,” Bovitch said. “It’s all about reading and feeding off people and accommodating their different responses into the training program.”

In his first month on the job, Bovitch has rearranged the weight room to better serve the student athletes and is in the process of implementing additional equipment upgrades.

“I am looking to provide an enthusiastic, intense and very safe atmosphere for the student-athletes here at La Salle,” Bovitch said.

Before joining the staff at La Salle, Bovitch spent two years as the Assistant Sports Performance director at Velocity Sports Performance in Warminster, Pa. where he implemented speed technique and skill programs for a variety of age groups.

Bovitch received a BS in Kinesiology from Penn State in 2002 and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in education with a focus on cognitive development at La Salle.
